The Premier League had refused Chelsea’s request to postpone the game against Wolves last week despite the Blues registering seven positive Covid-19 cases.
The justification was that Chelsea still had more than 13 players available for the match.
While the Brentford game in the League Cup is expected to go on, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has shared his view on the situation, insisting that the game be postponed for the sake of the players.
“I would be very surprised if Premier League takes a judgement on the quality of players available. It’s simply not their job,” Tuchel said at the press conference ahead of the Brentford game.
“Our squad is very strong, but it’s not the biggest. When we miss 9 players, we have a problem.”
“We are just disappointed we don’t have the players to fulfil our goals and to play on the highest level competitively.”
