Norwich boss Dean Smith provides Billy Gilmour update after surprising Chelsea return

Norwich City manager has given Billy Gilmour update after the midfielder made his way back to West London. Dean Smith while speaking to the media earlier this week said: “Billy Gilmour has got a high ankle [sprain] injury so it will probably put him out for three or four weeks.

“He has gone back to Chelsea at the moment for them to assess it but hopefully he will be back for his treatment and rehab over the next few days.

“I believe it is an injury where he will be assessed by Chelsea and then sent back to us. Hopefully in the next three weeks he is back playing.”

The Blues are taking no chances with Gilmour’s ankle injury, bringing the talented midfielder back to the club temporarily in order to fully access his condition.

The 20-year-old has been a key player for the Premier League outsiders, featuring in 14 top-flight games so far this season and registering one assist.
