Kepa reveals how he will help Chelsea during Mendy’s AFCON absence

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga claims that he is mentally prepared to take over Thomas Tuchel’s No.1 choice Edouard Mendy, as the Senegalese will fly to AFCON duty.

Mendy will be out for international duty in January and will miss out on four weeks for the Blues, as the African Cup of Nations will initiate. This means that Kepa will have to fit into his position at Stamford Bridge.

His recent heroics in the EFL Cup clash against Southampton impressed the vivid supporters of Chelsea. Although, the Spaniard has always been a penalty expert.

However, Kepa has just made four appearances for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season and Mendy’s long journey for his national duty will provide the No.2 goalkeeper with the much-needed opportunity.

While speaking about Mendy’s absence in January, Kepa said: “Well, it’s two months away. Of course, we know it can happen. And I will be ready but we have a lot of games until we start thinking about that.”

Kepa has continued to prove that he is a top shot stopper and he conducts himself in a great manner every time he plays, been faultless under Tuchel and has had many top performances.
