Amadou Haidara explains why he likes to play under Rangnick amidst Man Utd links

Amidst being linked to a January move to Man United, RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara addressed and rumours and told Bild: “Everyone had a favourite team as a kid. Mine was Manchester United.

“I was a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, I liked Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra, Edwin van der Sar, Anderson. But if you want to talk to me about rumours: I’m at Leipzig and I feel good.”

The Leipzig midfielder revealed that Ralf Rangnick had a n impact on his career, he added: “Yes, Ralf plays a very big role in my career. Don’t forget: when Leipzig wanted to get me, I tore my cruciate ligament. But Ralf said that I should come anyway. I wouldn’t have expected that back then.

“I’m very grateful to him because he really wanted me and gave me great confidence as a coach in Leipzig. He later told me to stay with RB and trust that Julian Nagelsmann would make me better.”

All we know is that, Rangnick is reportedly a big fan of Haidara and was responsible for bringing him to RB Leipzig a few years ago. The hard-working midfielder has a release clause of around £30m – triggering which could allow the Red Devils to sign him in January.

With the German gaffer wanting to properly implement his ‘gegenpressing’ tactics, it remains to be seen whether he makes any acquisitions in the winter transfer window to improve the United squad.
